In honor of John Lennon’s birthday, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus dedicated one whole month of peace, love and creativity to New York City! Lennon Bus Ambassador Bootsy Collins led students in creating original music, videos, poetry, giant human peace signs, aerial photos and art around the theme of peace. After visiting schools, festivals and communities throughout the boroughs, the bus wrapped with an incredible block party that brought the whole community together in a grand celebration of joy.
Special thanks to The Mayor’s Office, NYC Council, Department of Cultural Affairs, NY State Assembly, Canon U.S.A., Inc., Juniper Networks, Other World Computing (OWC), Securematics, Nearpod, The Meadows Music & Arts Festival and the Bootsy Collins Foundation for making it all possible. Additional thanks goes to those specific Council Members who offered tremendous support for us to make Come Together NYC an annual event: Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Elizabeth Crowley, Daniel Dromm, Julissa Ferreras-Copeland, Corey Johnson, Karen Koslowitz, Rory Lancman, Stephen Levin, Mark Levine and Paul Vallone.
For the remainder of 2017 the bus heads down south to sunny Florida where we will form one of our largest human peace signs to date!
