Sixteen year old pianist Catherine Huang is a sophomore at Lynbrook High School and studies piano with Professor Hans Boepple. She won first prize and the young jury award at the 2017 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition and appeared on Kansas Public Radio as the first prize winner of the 2016 International Institute for Young Musicians (IIYM) International Piano Competition. She is also a top prizewinner at the Blount-Slawson Young Artists Competition, the San Jose International Piano Competition, and the Los Angeles Young Musicians International Competition.

Catherine won first prize at the 2018 California Youth Symphony Young Artist Competition and first prize and Best Performance of a Sonata at the 2018 Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition. She is also a two-time first place winner of the MTAC State Concerto Competition (2013 and 2016) and the San Francisco Chopin Competition (2014 and 2017) and first place winner of the 2016 Pacific Musical Society Competition.

She performed with the El Camino Youth Symphony in 2017 and the Peninsula Symphony in 2018 and will be performing with the California Youth Symphony South Carolina Philharmonic in the 2018-2019 season. She has performed in numerous concerts and masterclasses as a participant in the Southeastern Piano Festival, John Perry Academy Summer Festival, and the International Institute for Young Musicians.

Catherine regularly organizes events and performs at senior centers and retirement homes as an officer of Lynbrook Music for Community. Aside from piano, Catherine enjoys dance and is passionate about STEM.
