An Afternoon of Classical Music with Dr. Vincente Della Tonia from Allen University in Columbia, SC.
Dr. Vicente Della Tonia has performed solo and chamber recitals in concert halls throughout the United States, Spain, and his native country, Brazil. He received top prize awards in numerous competitions including the XXI Concurso Latino-Americano de Piano Rosa Mística, 21st Concurso Nacional de Paulo Giovanini, III Concurso Nacional de Piano Maestro Rodrigo Tavares, and Concurso de Piano Prof. Aécio de Souza Salvador. An avid researcher, Dr. Della Tonia has presented on the pedagogy and literature of the piano with an emphasis on the first year of study, collaborative playing, group instruction, improvisation, and the works of American and Latin American composers with special attention to Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Recently, as a presenter he has given lectures and workshops at Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) national and state conferences and symposiums, and at the VII Coloquio of the Seminario Permanente de História y Música en México (Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México, Mexico City). As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM), Dr. Vicente Della Tonia, has taught at the University of South Carolina’s Community Music School; Georgia State University- as a graduated assistant; as well as at Seminário Santo Antonio and Conservatório Musical de Lençóis Paulista in Brazil.
He will present an electrifying program featuring piano works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Ernesto Lecuona and Bela Bartok.
